Thanks to a grant from Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the House of Bread is offering a FREE 10-week Food Service Career Pathways training program. The program provides qualified, at-risk and economically disadvantaged adults with food service and life skills training needed to pursue a sustainable career in the food service industry. Classes will run Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., beginning on Thursday, January 18, 2018.
Participants will gain valuable “hands-on” experience learning in a professional commercial kitchen, assisting in contract meal prep and catered events during their internship with the House of Bread team. The life skills component of the program prepares participants for work-readiness, focusing on the importance of appropriate work behaviors, resume writing and interviewing techniques, as well as academic tutoring, household budgeting, stress relief, and time management.
