I am from Jamaica and I am a mother of four kids, a grandmother of two, and a foster mother of two. I work as a CNA, but my passion is cooking. Through my union – District 1199, I learned about the 1199 Training Fund. I attended classes and got my high school diploma, but I didn’t stop there. I attended CCI Culinary School for two years and earned my chef’s license. I still haven’t stopped and I’m now attending Manchester Community College, where I’m going for my Associate’s Degree in Management, Tourism, and Hotels. Since 2012 I have been a member of the Board of Trustees of the 1199 Training Fund and also serve as a Union Learning Representative, encouraging my co-workers to attend school. Your dream is your goal. Never give up your dream.
